The Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools (KCKPS) is an exceptional school system, which uses an array of innovative teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of our students. We also have a vigorous professional development program designed to support our teachers.
Our district consists of 47 schools, including three preschools, 30 elementary schools (grades Pre-k-5), eight middle schools (grades 6-8), four senior high schools (grades 9-12), Sumner Academy of Arts and Science (grades 8-12), and an alternative school. Our district serves over 20,000 students. KCKPS has approximately 3,500 employees, including 1,450 teachers.
